I have Win XP Professional Service pack 1.

I have set start menu and other windows settings
to "windows classic".

Turned off the use welcome screen option.

I have set the start menu to "display log off".

I have renamed a windows user profile and restarted teh
computer.

Windows still shows the old user name in the start
menu "log off..." option. It appears to rename the user
everywhere else ok except here?

Is this a bug that Microsoft knows of? Anyone seen this?

No, this is not a bug.
What do you mean by "renamed the profile" ?
If you go into lusrmgr.msc, or contol userpassword2
and get to the properties of the renamed account (it is
the account that was renamed, right ? not just its profile ?)
you will find that there is the account and the name as two
separate lines. Change the other.

Thanks. All fixed. can't believe it was so easy.

Why doesn't xp rename this as well? I had renamed the user
through users and passwords so i'm guessing its the
profile i just had to change?

Can you get to this lusrmgr.msc through the menus in xp? I
know win2k you can click on the advanced button in users &
passwords and change it there.
