Changing the Windows Explorer Default View

Guest

I want to change the default view of Windows explorer to go straight to an
expanded view of my "$ user" folder. So I did the following:
Right click on the windows explorer icon
Select properties
Change the "target" to:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, c:\$ user

This seemed to do the trick, except that it doesn't show an expanded view of
my $ user folder in the left pane of windows explorer. Is there a way to
change the target above so that it shows and expanded view of the $ user
folder??

Try this as the target :
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, "c:\$ user"

Hi Ayush, thanks very much for trying! But no, that didn't seem to work
either.

It's strange, because when it opens it up to this folder, $ user, not only
does it not show an expanded view of the folders inside the $ user folder,
but it doesn't even have the little "+" sign beside the folder itself....
normally just clicking on the "+" sign would immediately open up the expanded
contents of that folder...

....any other ideas?

(thanks again for your assistance... :)
