Hi,

I have a ghost7 image, which I'd like to use on several workstations,
but I'm having problems with the SID change. Ghostwalker quits before
making changes to the SID, and Symantec appear to advise people to use
Sysprep - which seems to require that all new desktops end up in a
'sealed' state, meaning everyone had to go through the 'Let's take a
few moments to setup windows' stages - which is hardly ideal. I tried
sysinternals NewSID tool, but this seems to cause bluescreen STOP
errors (REGISTRY_ERROR), making XP unbootable.
Are there any other tools I can try?

Thanks in advance,

It sounds to me that you have a bad image to start with (this does happen
from time to time). We have used ghostwalker, New Sid and sysprep (which you
need to customize to not get the "Lets take a few... ", books are available
to help you) and had all three work just fine. We decided on our last
rollout (over five hundred xp workstations) to go with sysprep because we
could control more settings. We also use scripting to run some other setups
specific to our needs after ghosting.
