Changing the ruler units in Word 2003

I am trying to get the rulers in Word 2003 to display inches. It currently
shows 39 units per 6.5 inch body. I also get the "39 ch" as the width of a
single column in the format/columns window. The
Tools/Options/General/Measurement units is set to inches, but not reflected
on page rulers. How do I get the display rulers to display inches?
