Changing the paging file to another partition.

I have a single hard drive with 3 partitions, C: (apps), D: (data), and S:
(swap).

Can I simply reconfigure the swap by simply setting C: to zero, and S: to
the max size of the S: partition?

Yes but unless you're running out of space this does nothing for you.

Dave,

Thanks for the reply. I'm duplicating an environment on my laptop; maybe
the original server was low on space.

What prompted the question was when I set swap on C: to zero, I rec'd a
warning that "...if the initial size is less than 1022 MB, the system may not
be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs...". I
proceeded, but wasn't able to tell if that was going to be a problem.

Since I'm on the same physical drive, will it or won't it create the
debugging information file (and should I be concerned)?

As an aside, if I check the free space on the swap partition right after
boot up, I find that the space is almost completely used. Is is reasonable
to assume that it's simply been allocated per the configuration in
'Performance Options, Virtual Memory'?

thanks!

* It means the operating system won't be able to create blue to create a
memory.dmp file for trouble shooting in the event your computer experiences
a blue screen stop error.

* No, must be the %systemdrive%
To be able to see the blue screen stop message; Control
Panel|System|Advanced|Startup and Recovery, I usually like to uncheck
"Automatically reboot" this way you get a chance to read the stop error.

* Check to see what is on the drive. If you find pagefile.sys consuming the
entire space then yes.

The entire partition is used by pagefile.sys (had to unhide protected OS
files from windows explorer to see it).

You're welcome.
