Changing the default cluster size?

Is there any way of changing the default cluster size of the C: drive
without re-formatting it? I'm trying to sort out a PC that came with XP
installed on a partition with 512byte clusters!

Any help appreciated!
 
Partition Magic can change cluster sizes.

With the built in tools the only way is a re-format. There are third party
tools that will do it. As with anything that does fairly low level changes
to the file system you should back up first. As you now have a backup you
can use the built in tools :-)

512byte clusters, for what ever reason, can be cloned or ghosted as a
partition image.
After that you need to reformat the HD to the appropriate cluster size
for your application.
Finally restore the image to the newly formatted HD.

Restoreing the partition image will not affect the changes you make to
the cluster size during the reformat.
