Changing Technology

Back in the days of Win 2 and 3, about the time NT was doing things they
couldn't, the physical world of the pc was fairly uncomplicated. Now we are
all older and wiser...
After my recent horror stories with internal CD/DVD drives and their
software, I decided to use the external DVD drive, with new Roxio Sonic Media
digital Plus; one can do CD & DVD burning, copying, all of it.
And, apart from Add-On arguments with IE, it's just great.
That leads me back to hardware. A lot of professional people are moving
over to external hard drives for storage - even system. When you look at
that mess of flat cables, IDE and stuff, you realize that there's an awful
lot of electronics going on under the cover. If there are enough USB
outlets, that seems to be the way forward.

Your concern is very valid, but this suggestion should actually go to the
hardware manufacturers. They decide how many ports they want to give and
windows marely enables th enumber of port it has available.

In the meanwhile if you have too many USB devises that you need to connect,
buy a USB hub. There are many options available

And remember the technology will keep evolving faster than the human need
and speed :).

Thank you for the advice.
I have a hub, only, it doesn't "like" a lot of attachments. One of my pcs
reacts to flash drives being plugged directly in, so I use them via the hub.
And a manufacturer's engineer told me that they try to limit usbs to 8.
I just thought others might like to share this experience.
