I am writing my PhD thesis (word 2000) and have been using the Insert/Caption
to label all figures and tables in my document. I then intend to use the
Insert/Index and Tables to generate the List of Tables and List of Figures
for the thesis. The problem is, many of my Table captions contain text
(explanatory notes etc) that I wish to excluded from the List of Tables. I
thought that I would be able to go into the Table caption and apply the
"Normal" style to that text which I don't want to appear in my List of
Tables. This doesn't work, as I apparently cannot change the style of a
subset of the text that is in a caption. I guess I could just generate the
list of Tables and then manually delete that text which i don't want, but
this can pose a problem with page numbering etc. I'd rather have a way of
formatting the caption so that only the relevant text gets picked up and spit
out when i generate my Lists.
Any suggestions most welcome! The simpler the better.
Thanks
