I am trying to create a image of a windows XP SP2 CD that I got from
microsoft but change the requirement for which key it used. Currently it
wants a CD key. I want to change it to product key so I can use the product
key from the computer. We are still in the process of getting a corporate
edition. I read an article last year that tells how to do it. It was a matter
of editing an INI file and adding a key comination to change what it asks for.
Does anyone know how do to that. Thanks

If the Windows XP Product Key is affixed to the computer,
it is an OEM version. You cannot use that Product Key
with any other Microsoft Windows XP CD. It can only
be used with the computer manufacturer's CD or Restore
method.

We've been using an image that was created from a OEM CD, and any product key
regardless of the manufacturer has worked. We are trying to use a CD that is
requiring a CD key and change that requirement to a product key instead. I
was able to accomplish that a year ago. I since have forggoten how to do and
now we are trying to use an image from microsoft so that SP2 is installed
already, while we wait on our corporate edition.
