changing network card

in win98 i used to delete the nic in device manager, physically remove it
and boot into safe mode and remove it from device manager. what's the best
way to do this in win2000?
tia. I just don't want any ghosts of the old nic hanging around .
 
Uncheck any bindings to the NIC, uninstall the driver within Device Manager,
shutdown and replace the NIC
