Using OL 2003l Win XP home; just changed email accounts from POP3 account to
Exchange Server account. The "profile helper" provided by Intermedia created
the account OK, but seems to have installed a clean version of OL2003 as all
my rules are erased, custom views etc. I imported my "outlook.pst" and got
all my contacts, calender etc. Still recondtruting the rules, etc.
Now, when I click "to" to select a name for an email I get a default
selection of "show names from" a list evidently on the server. I can select
"contacts" manually but how can I get my local contacts folder to be the
default location for names?
Also, how can I change the fields displayed in this dialog box? "Name,
Display name, email address, email type are shown, but not "File As" - which
is last, first. this is the way I think of my contacts. I can't type last
name in to get a name displayed in the list.
HELP!!

As discussed here many times, you should not use Import for your data file.
You should use File, Open OL Data File on the menu in Outlook. For the name
suggestions--You need to set up your Contacts folder as an address book in
Properties of the Contacts Folder. Help has the directions for changing Last
Name, First Name order.
