You bought a laptop in Italy with Windows Vista pre-loaded as an Operating
System?

Was XP in Italian preinstalled on the laptop? As far as I know, you would
probably have to purchase the English language version of XP and reinstall
from scratch.

Well I was aware of that, but you probably know where I was going with
that...

I received an invitation to Beta test Vista in Italian. I don't know what's available because often they'll say you're in a Beta and no content is there for months. I speak only a few words of it. Appropriate? Of course it is for MSFT. I also received invites to test MSFT software in very obscure languages I don't speak. I'm still working on English.

If anyone has the magic wand that will transform a different language version of the OS into another one will you post your magic here?

People are fooled by the little language bar sometimes. But if you in fact did have an Italian version which I don't think is available, you'd need an English version from scratch if you wanted English on any OS that has been done by MSFT thus far and vice versa if it were available.

Install the English edition of XP. Be sure to download all the drivers for
the laptop from the manufacturer's website and burn them to cd first.
