Changing Group Header Property to Repeat Section Causes "Hangup"

Hello all,

The report that I am designing hangs when I change the Group Header property on Repeat Section to Yes from No. When I hit Print Preview icon the bottom left corner displays the message "Formatting page, press Ctrl+Break to stop". I end up doing this hard break because it just hangs on the formatting. It is doing it while I compose this screed.

Any ideas? This Report is making my life miserable.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

You can not do anything that prevents the repeating group
header being displayed while it it is in the process of
trying to prepare the section for display.

The most common cause of this effect is an attempt to make
the section invisible in its own Format event, but I think
you may be tripping over the same issue.

You might be able to control the RepeatSection property in
the Format event of the detail or a group footer section,
but I've never tried that so I'm not sure.

Scenario:
- you have a memo field on the report that is set to can grow and contains
enough data to span more than one page.
- you then turn a section's "repeat section" property to true

Result: it prints "thousands" of pages and eventually just hangs the app.
If I had to guess, I'd say it was trying to push the memo field to the next
page so it could then display the repeating header, but gets caught in some
kind of loop doing it.

If you want to make it hang sooner than that, add a [pages] field to the
report -- it will hang trying to calculate the value for pages for the same
reason.

I haven't tested this extensively, but it appears to be an Access bug. (I
was testing it in Access 2003).

I found that if you have a memo field on the report that is set to can grow
and will consume more than one page, if you then turn on a section
