Changing font sizes and typeface without asking

I always type in 12 point Times Roman, so how is it that sometimes I can
click half way down a document, start typing and it comes up in 10 point
Times Roman, or in another typeface entirely?

This happens on documents where I have in the past (though not necessarily
recently) cut and pasted in chunks of text, some of it in other font sizes
and typefaces. But when I have done so, I have always changed the type to !2
point Times Roman.

Still, without warning, a font size or typeface change can occur. When it
does, I have hit CNTRL and A to block the entire text, then made sure it's
all 12 point Times Roman. But almost immediately, back I starting typing in
10 point again. What can I do?

This newsgroup is really for questions about Windows XP. It sounds like
you have a question about your word processing program and you are likely to
find better answers and more people who understand the questions if you post
your questions in a news group devoted to your word processing program.

Likely you are using Microsoft Word. I just checked with mine, and
could not find the way to display all the codes. Most of the time the codes
that change the font types and styles etc. are not shown, but are part of
the document. It appears you are editing documents with parts of the
document still formatted to font sizes other than the one(s) you see and
when you start typing in one of those areas (that may have only spaces or
blank lines) the new text will be formatted in the other size or style.

I just tried to find a way of displaying those codes in Word XP but I
did not find it. Maybe it is not available, I can't remember. In any case,
you can highlight the entire document and change the font to the one you
want and that should take care of the problem as it should eliminate those
hidden changes.
