Changing Folder Permission

A

Alphons Fakler

On a Win2000 Server we have shared folders which are
accessed by Win2000 workstations. Connected to the server
via Remote Desktop Connection it is possible to change user
permissions for your own folders while connected via
\\server\share it is not. Is there anybody who knows why?

That is by design. Shared folder permissions can also be changed locally or remotely
using Computer Management/shared folders for those with administrator rights on
remote machine. Power users can create and change share permissions on local
computers. Share permissions with "full control" for regular users does not give them
the ability to change share permissions. It gives them the ability to change ntfs
permissions on files they access through the share that they have full control
permissions or ownership on. --- Steve
