I have a file on my computer that is used for something
else, but my computer is trying to recognize it as the
wrong file type then I want it.
Microsoft on their website says to tell it to open with
the file that I want it to open with to change the file
type, but theres no program available that can open it.
Its for something completely different then using it on my
PC.

So how do I change it?

Your use of "then" instead of "than" helps to make your
post almost impossible to understand. Did it occur to you
that knowing the "something else" you refer to might help
others to help you? Why not try again, in English.
