changing file time stamp?

I'm working on the pictures I took on my recent vacation. I rotate and crop
losslessly, which includes no loss of the original time stamp. But when I
stitch together pictures into a panorama, the original is lost. My album
building software uses this time stamp for some features.

How can I edit a file's date and time to set it back to what one of its
source files has?

I don't know about your computer's time clock, but mine needs periodic
adjustment (wink)

Seems complicated. I just wrote a few line function that read from the
first source file and transfers to the new one. Works fine. But I had to
open up an old APL for DOS in a command window and use the MS-DOS Int 21H
Function 57H (87). I'd just prefer to not have to work in the "DOS"
environment.
