Changing Exchange server

Is it possible to create a script that will automate changing all my users
roaming profiles from pointing to ServerB from ServerA. If so, could anyone
give me an example as I do not wish to manually login as all users and change
their settings.

Thanks
Vu

If this is within the same Exchange Organization you can just use Move
Mailbox. When they connect to the old Exchange server they will
automatically be redirected to the new Exchange server and the profile will
be updated.

Hi Roady,

Thank you for the quick response. Just to clarify. When the end users
login and try to open Outlook, will they receive any error messages? Will
they have to enter any information or navigate through a wizard?

Thanks
Vu

They shouldn't notice a thing.
However if you have multiple profiles set up on a PC (say for cross-training
purposes), the other mailboxes attached to the other profiles will not be
redirected and you will have to remote into the PC and change this. That
sounds a little confusing so let me explain:
User A uses their own PC at their own desk all the time but will
occasionally fill in for User B on their PC. User A and User B are both
redirected to a new server and all goes well. 6 months later User A has to
fill in for User B on User B's computer. Their Outlook profile on that PC
will have to be redirected from the properties of Outlook to the new server.
Make sense?

The situation you have described below sounds like the users using local
profiles. I am using roaming profiles as stated in the original question.
Your situation will not apply to my setup will it?

Thanks

You're probably right though I can't say for sure. We never did use roaming
profiles there. Every time a user switched, I had to manually set up the
profile on the next PC.

I think Korland is talking about additional mail profiles instead of the
main Outlook profile they use on a daily basis. The situation will be more
exception than rule. Also when they have additional profiles configured they
probably have done that theirselves and should be able to update it as well.

With Move Mailbox you should be fine. Start with moving 10 - 20 mailboxes or
so. See what happens for yourself, test what brakes for you etc and then
plan further deployment.

Try using Outlook Profiler, it should help.....

Roaming Profiles solves that issue as at logon/logoff setting are retrieved
from/written back to a server.

We have a similar issue here. Users have local profiles, multiple users
using the same PC. We are moving exchange servers, but NOT in the same
organization. How can this be done easily?
