When I open word. It opens as "document1"
the document is grids/table.
all my sved documents are also in grid format. I have tried everything to
convert this back to a normal word document. Nothing seems to work. I
appraciate any help with this

What do you mean by "grid format?" Do you have a dim grey
(non-printing) grid background on all new and existing documents?

View>Toolbars>Drawing.

Click the "Draw" menu button the "Grid." Uncheck "display gridlines on
screen"

On the Drawing Toolbar, click Draw and select Grid. On the dialogue box
deselect Display Gridlines on Screen by removing the checkmark. Does this
solve your problem?

I suspect she's saved something within the normal.dot file. If she follows
Suzanne's excellent instructions, she'll be as happy as the goldfinches out
back are now that I've refilled the feeders.

What she's changed, though, is the "Display gridlines" setting, and it
should suffice to turn that off in a document.

Ohhhhhhhhh - it sounded like something leftover from a previous document.
Oops on my part - but if it was leftover, your instructions would clear it
up nicely. :-)
