Changing disk drive letters

A

Andrew Chalk

I have installed a new drive and copied the contents of an old one over to
it. I have removed the old one and want the new one to assume its drive
letter. How do I do this?

At present the new drive is E:, and I want it to be D:.

Thanks!

Assuming you're not referring to changing the drive
letter of your system drive:

Right-click My Computer (you can do this from the Start
Menu)
Select Manage
In the left-hand pane, near the bottom of the list,
click "Disk Management".
After a few seconds, the right-hand pane will display
your disk information.
Right-click the drive letter you wish to reassign, and
select "Change Drive Letter and Paths"
Click Change
Select the appropriate drive letter
Click OK until you get back to the Computer Management
window.
Close Computer Management and enjoy!
