Changing desktop icon size using arrow keys

I know there is a way to do this but I have forgotten how. I have tried
showing the desktop and then using the Control key with the arrow keys, the
Alt key with the arrow keys and even both Control and Alt but I can't get it
to work.

How do I achieve this?
