Changing default font

The Forms properties window offers a default font size of 8 pt, with a
control size to match. These are invariably too small and I would like to
increase them but I cannot see any obvious way to do this, either in the
general Display Properties/Appearance settings or in the more specific Access
settings. Am I overlooking something obvious?

To set the properties for new text boxes you add to your form:
1. Open the form in design view.
2. Open the Toolbox. (It's on the ribbon in A2007.)
3. Select the text box in the Toolbox.
4. Open the Properties box. The title of the properties box reads:
Default Text Box.
5. Save the form.

New text boxes added to that form in future will have the new property. You
may wish to set the properties for other controls too (label, combo, list
box, ...)

You can then save the form as your template for new forms:
a.. in Access 1 - 2003: Tools | Options | Forms/Reports,
b.. in Access 2007: Office Button | Access Options | Object Designers.
In Access 2007, you can save this as the default database as well.

Thank you for that, Allen. It is a while since we chatted. I had begun to
think you had 'gone walkabout'.

I am pleased to see that I was not overlooking something obvious. The
answer is clearly 'tucked around the back' a bit but I am grateful that you
have located for me.

I don't have Access 2007. Couldn't take to it, particularly the 'ribbon',
which obscured half my screen, and the 'nannying' philosophy, which kept
asking me whether I really wanted to do what I had selected. Can't imagine
you Ausies getting on too well with that approach either. Its XP & 2003 for
me. There is much to be said for the 'If it ain't bust, don't fix it'
philosophy. I reasoned that Bill Gates could manage OK without my upgrade
fees.
