changing date format

How can I change a date in one column that looks like this
20040330 to look like 3/30/04 or 033004?
 
One way:

Data/Text to columns. Click Next, Next. Select YMD from the date
dropdown. Click Finish.

Format the date however you wish using Format/Cells/Number..

try 'Data - Text in columns' and choose the appropiate Date format in
the wizard
