Changing Bullet Style

I'm using Word 2000 and have changed the bullet style on several templates (letter, report, etc.). We have a network so anyone that pulls up a template will start off with the correct bullet style. I have several questions:

1. Since old letters, reports, etc. will be opened and revised, what's the easiest way to update to the new bullet style?

2. How do I change my bullet icon so that when it's clicked it will have the correct bullet style?

You can copy in the new style using the Organizer. You may find you need to
use Ctrl-Q to remove 'direct formatting' on the styled paragraphs in the
existing letters. (If you use different styles, you'd have to apply the
correct style, of course). If you are trying to support a number of users on
this, you'd probably do best with a macro to modify the style, though.

Tools > Customize allows you to drag a style to the toolbar. You can edit
the button image (copy the one from the standard button), but you won't get
toggling so you will also need to provide a means of reapplying your
ordinary text style.

(Theoretically you can set the default numbering scheme that will be applied
by the bullet button to one that includes style linking - indeed it
sometimes happens by accident and worries people silly - but I wouldn't go
this way as it is difficult to control and the 'toggle off' will produce a
list styled paragraph with no bullet, which is unlikely to be what you
want.)
