changing a minus serial number into a date within Excel 2003

I need to transfer some genealogical information into Excel 2003 but when i
transfer the dates any that are before 1900 are converted into minus serial
numbers. As i need to store the information in date format how can I change
the minus serial number into a date format

Hi,

Excel does not support dates before 1/1/1900 in the spreadsheet. You can
work with VBA to deal with this or you can check out this site where John has
created functions to handle this

I have not try the work out suggested but will keep updates here.

Hi again,

Just to let people know that i eventually got the link given my Shane open
by going first to egghead.cafe.com then pasting the link into the address bar.

Have now tried the XDate function but could not get them to work and have
put up a querry on egghead for an answer.
