Changes are not holding

IN word document, changes are saved but when document is re-opened the
changes are not there. Any ideas?
 
Is the Word document attached to an email, and are you opening the Word
attachment directly from the email message, instead of right-clicking on the
attachment and saving it to your hard drive?
