Changed Font Menu

Ugh … I screwed something up in Word 2003. Now, when I go to my font menu
(format, font), the menu that is displayed looks different. It says “Latin
text font†on the top and in the second section it says “Complex scripts.â€

Any ideas how I can get my old font menu back?

Shoot, no, that is not it. I double checked and my printer is set to my
normal default printer that I have always used.

I also just noticed that now when I go to “tools,†“options,†I have a tab
entitled “complex scripts.†I do not remember ever seeing that before either.
Yikes, what did I do?

If you do not need complex script or right-to-left font support, then
click on Start | Control Panel | Regional and Language Options |
Languages tab | uncheck the "Install files for complex script and
right-to-left languages" box | OK.

That's weird. Okay, click on Start | All Programs | Microsoft Office
Tools | Microsoft Office Language Settings | Enabled Languages tab.
What languages are in the list of Enabled languages? If you see
something East Asian or Middle Eastern, try removing it.

I think you are on the right track. It seems like I have another language
invoked somewhere.

I just went to the find/replace menu and on the bottom left it looks
relatively like it used to (Search Options: match case; use wildcards; sounds
like (English); find all word forms (English), but on the right of that it
lists (match kashida; match diacritics; match alef hamza; match control
characters).

Found these posts elsewhere while trying to solve same frustrating problem
that appeared without cause. Please let me know if anyone's got a better
answer?!

Hi kajekat

Oh dear - this is a problem that seems to infest computers from time to
time, and no-one seems to know why. The following thread explains how I got
rid of complex scripts. But tampering with the registry is not to be taken
lightly, so be careful.

Hope this helps.
