changed domain to workgroup and cannot login

i changed my laptop from a domain to a workgroup so i can
get on my network at home. after i restarted, i was
unable to logon. i do not know the local Administrator
user password but can hopefully find that out.

is that my only option or is there a way to change the
computer back to the domain?

i have tried going into safe mode but that asks me for a
password as well.

any ideas are appreciated.

thanks

The only way to log in is to use the local Administrator
account or another local account (NOT a domain account).

what about deleting the sam (c:\windows\system32\sam)
file? that would reset the administrator password, right?

You're welcome to try whacking the SAM, but doing so
could cause other problems as well. I personally would
rather reinstall than expect everything to be perfectly
fine after doing that.

Hi

You should contact the IS support personnel for the domain, they will be able
to help you...
