Change Windows 7 Startup Sound?

Has anyone found a foolproof way to change the Windows 7 startup sound
(imageres.dll)? I've tried a few methods and none of them let me
complete the processs, even in Safe Mode.

Why would they? This is an XP group not Windows 7.

There is a newsgroup - alt.windows7.general some news servers don't carry
it.
