change win2000 pro login password

i was recently given a computer with win 200 pro os. the previous owner cant
remember the login password. is there any way around the password or any way
to reset without os disk?

To avoid this type of situation, plan ahead and create a second
admin account whose password you lock away. You should
never be dependent on one single account/password.

About the missing Win2000 CD: If you don't resolve this
situation quickly then you must expect that it will trip you
up at the most inconvenient time.

Winternals has a great utility erd commander that will allow you to reset the
local administrators password. There may be free utilities available
personally don't know of any.
