change theme background, Help!

I'm struggling trying to change a theme background. As a test I created a
style-sheet.css, typed
<STYLE>
<!--
BODY{bground-color:"lime"}--></STYLE
Went to one of the index.htm and inserted
<link rel= "stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style_page.css">

Now the code looks like this:
</style>

<![endif]-->
<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="copy-of-journal 1011, default">

<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb, default">

<link rel= "stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style_page.css">

The problem is.... it does not change anything? Could you plese tell me
what am I doing wrong?
Thanks!!

You have to modify the theme (replace the background image with your choice), then save under a new
name, remove your current theme and apply your newly modified theme.

Thanks.
I did it, the page turned a beautiful color but I lost everything else I
had (i.e., top and bottom frames). Is there a way to *only*change the bground
w/out eliminating all others pre-set styles?

It all depends on how you modified the theme...

I tested it again and now it changed correctly. I don't know why the first
time I tried it erased both frames (?) I still don't know how to specify a
different background for the top and bottom frames, is there a way i can do
that?
Thanks again

Use a FP theme, you can only have a single background image within the site.

Can you provide a URL to a page where you would like to have different backgrounds?
