change sender email address

Help! Exchange/Outlook doesn't make this easy...(I'm
using Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003.)

I recieve email from two Internet domains: domain1.com
and domain2.com. Everything comes into my one Inbox.

If email comes to me from domain1.com, then when I reply
back to that person, I want the "From:" to appear as if
it's from "(e-mail address removed)".

If email comes from domain2.com, then when I reply back
to that person, I want the "From:" to appear as if it's
from "(e-mail address removed)".

But Exchange uses the "set as default" address on my
account for ALL outgoing email. How can I get around this?

(I'm sense this is a common problem?)

OUtlook, by default, will use the account under which the mail was received
for sending. Do you have both accounts installed and working properly?
Reason I ask is that you should have an "account" button on your message to
set the sending account.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

Thanks, Milly, for answer my post!

I don't have the "account" button because I'm hosting the
email myself (for both domains) using Exchange 2003
Server. (These aren't external POP3 accounts.)

I figured out a kludge, tho (but if you have a better
suggestion, please let me know!):

I created _two_ exchange mailboxes. One to receive all
the domain1.com email and another one to receive all the
domain2.com email.

Then, in Outlook 2003, I give delegate permissions to the
domain2.com mailbox.

Then, I open BOTH mailboxes in Outlook 2003 and send "on
behalf of" the domain2.com user.

It works OK (not great, just OK), but I think I can live
with it like this. Like I said, if you have a better
suggestion, please let me know.

There was another MVP in the Exchange discussion groups
who pointed me to this 3rd party product that solves this
problem on the Exchange server side
(http://victori.hypermart.net/choosefrom.html), but I'm a
bit surprised that MS doesn't have a way to solve this
problem since Exchange can receive email from many
domains, but it only send as one. <shrug>
