Change Power User rigths

Loui Arena

I am having problems with some VPN software. The issue is
it only works under the Admin account because the Power
Users have to have access to modify the LAN settings,
which they don't. How to i grant this access to this
group. The desktop is a W2K Professional, stand alone
machine. It is not part of a Domain.

Thanks

Hi Loui

you may want to have a look at a product we are about to release. NeoExec,
that is the name of the product, allows you to execute applications with
elevated privileges without having to grant them to the user. NeoExec may or
may not be what you need but afaik our is the only solution on the market.

I do not think that using RunAs with another user account would be a
solution to the problem as that would be another user profile.

I would contact the software publisher/vendor about this problem. In W2K
you must be an administrator or know/have access to administrator
credentials to change network connection properites. Are you sure that they
need to change settings after initial setup?? Windows XP Pro has included a
network configuration operators group to give regular users the ability to
change most settings. --- Steve

Steve,

Yes, I already contacted the vendor and we both confirmed
you need to have this right on the desktop. Being a
member of a Domain gives you a little flexibility with the
security rights but this is not my case. XP Pro must have
this setting for things such as this, which is the VPN
client.
