Change OS language

Bob

I want to buy an Acer laptop in Switzerland with XP Home
preinstalled. As it is in Switzerland they will only
provide the operating system in German or French. Does
anybody know, without forking out a load more cash, of a
download that can update/reinstall my OS in English or if
Microsoft will change the language free of charge?

Any answers or other solutions would be greatly
appreciated. Today if possible please 'cos the sale ends
tomorrow!

AFAIK, you're stuck with the language you're buying,
especially if the OS comes pre-installed. Furthermore,
you cannot download MS operating systems. It's either
a question of learning to say "Grüezi" or "bonjour", or
buying your laptop in an English-speaking country.

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.

Thanks Bruce. Had a look at the KB article and i think i'm
gonna go for a dual boot system (hmm, if the OS CDs are
supplied) which they suggest and which i've done before.
I'm sure it'll be ... an education.

For dual-booting with conflicting language versions of operating
systems, I've found System Commander from V-Communications to be very
useful, in the past.
