Hello all you command line junkies,

I've been trying to achieve one simple thing for awhile now though I
haven't had as much time to research it as I would like. I need to
create a batch file to change the Computer and Workgroup names of
machines that are multi-booting 98,2K and XP. Now I'm 99.9% positive I
can't do this all in one batch file since I am unaware of any code
supported in 98 to alter these kind of settings. Im also pretty sure
I'll need 3 seperate files. If you could just point me to a site with
the neccessary code(or just post the code if you have the time) it
would be most appreciated.(If there is some way to "request" a number
(ex. input box) that would also help though Im not even sure XP can do
this).

Also Im not sure if it possible but doing something similiar with a VB
base would also be of great help. I can create the frame and input but
Im not sure if it's possible to connect to the Windows modules.

Thanks for any help you can provide and since this is a "class
assignment" I'll put a little blurb with the contributions from so your
abilities will be recognized unless you wish to remain annonymous.

Hey Pegasus,

I've checked the old posts back to almost a whole day but I couldn't
find anything....Am I missing something? Thanks again for any help with
this.

There is a whole thread with several contributions (none from me)
under the verbatim subject "Command line to change computer name",
started by "DC" exactly 4 hours 22 minutes before yours. There is
no point in me giving the relative posting times because I most
likely live in a different time zone from yours.
