Change location of PST with IMAP accounts

I

Ingvald Belmans

Hi,

I am currently using Outlook 2007 and have a question about IMAP. When
using regular POP accounts, you can change the location of the PST by
moving it to another place in Windows Explorer and the next time you
start Outlook it will say the PST is missing and will ask where it is.

Now, when using IMAP accounts this approach doesn't work. When you
delete/move the PST that is associated with an IMAP account, Outlook
will just redownload the mailbox from the server and create a new PST in
the same location (%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook).

I didn't find any place in Outlook to change the location of the PST.
Was also searching the registry but didn't find any location where this
is set.

Now, if you are wondering why I want to change this: I have a computer
with multiple disk drives, 1 fast and small boot drive and a few large
data drives. Now of course my Windows profile is on the small boot drive
along with the PST files of my IMAP accounts, and they are starting to
take too much space.

So, if anyone has a good suggestion how to change this, please let me know.

AFAIK, the location of IMAP .pst files cannot be changed.
