Change links for embedded video

I have a presentation that contains several linked videos. I converted the
videos from *.mpg to *.wmv, so now when I click on a video, it doesn't work
(understandably). If I right-click on the video and select "Edit Movie
Object", I can see the file name of the linked movie, but I can't change it.

I can delete the movie object and insert a new one from the new file, but
this seems inefficient.

Is there a way to change the linked file name for a movie object?

Thanks,
Bob

It may not be efficient, but it is the recommended approach. Delete the video
and then re-insert it.

Show me the link and let me edit it

I have a simliar problem. I have all the videos (wmv) embedded into the
powerpoint file as custom show. i.e. slide 2 will link to a video inserted
into slide 10 at the end of the presentation.

However, sometimes when I move the PPT file to a different computer, the
videos would not play.

It will play some times and other times it would not. Is there a way to
prevent this from happening?

Thank you.

If it plays sometimes and not others and the CD is created identically each
time, then it is possible that the system at the other end has a problem with
the video file. It could be that the codec isn't installed, or the MCI settings
have been corrupted. See
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm for more
information. Not all systems are equal and not all videos are equal.

More likely you have the videos *linked* from the PPT file, as PPT doesn't embed
videos.

For that reason, check the same link as I gave earlier. You can use it to examine
the path to the linked file and remove all but the filename itself if necessary.

If the links are breaking when you move the file, that should help solve the
problem (so long as you also send the linked files along with the PPT).

If that still doesn't solve the problem, see Sonia's link and follow the
troubleshooting suggestions there
