change line design on an org chart

How do I change a line in an org chart, for reporting purposes. When I go to
use the Drawing toolbar the function is grayed out. I have taken the Auto
Layout off.

Which version of Org Chart? That is, are you using the Insert | Diagram
option in PPT 2002/2003, or are you using Insert | Organization Chart?

PPT 2003/Insert Org Chart...that is by selecting the Org charge template from
the slide page layout

Okay, if you're selecting the slide layout with the title placeholder and
org chart placeholder, then it's a diagram, and you should be able to select
the line and change the color on the Drawing toolbar -- just as you were
attempting.

I can't think what would cause it to be greyed out, unless you had
autolayouts still turned on. Hm...hopefully someone else will have some
ideas.

Hi John - I wanted to replace the default line for 2 specific boxes from a
solid to a dotted...It just isnt' easy, I finally did it, but it took alot of
time...not easyily done. I could not delete the solid line, but rather had
to hide it...and then had to draw the dotted line I needed to those 2 boxes.
I find Visio much more friendly when doing these types of changes on org
charts.
Any ideas you have would be helpful for the future.

As Echo said earlier that should be straightforward.

Put the cursor in the box to be changed and in the draw menu choose the
relevant line style. Should even work with autolayout ON. Note though that
this won't work if you also use the style gallery.
