Hi
my father bought a Eee PC 1000H in Hong Kong, with the OS runing in chinese
version (Windows XP Home Edition SP3). I want to change the language of the
OS to english, can someone tell me how can I do it?

Purchase and install a full retail English-language version of WinXP Home
Edition.

You would need to do a clean install of XP Home English, which means
purchasing it. Contact Asus about buying an English XP restore disk. If
they will do this, perhaps it will be cheaper. The XP OS installed has been
tailored for the Eee PC so I don't think a standard XP Home English edition
will work, although I don't know this for sure. You should check on the Eee
PC forums to see what is the best course of action for you. This one is
good:

Eee PC's do not have an optical drive. Installing a retail version of XP
requires an external USB optical drive. Original Eee's came with a 4-gig
SSD, so squeezing XP onto it was difficult. The newer models have a
larger size SSD. However, it's best to customize the XP install with a
tool like nLite. As Malke said contact Asus as they have customized
XP images for the Eee product line. We have a 4-G Surf and it's really
a nice, compact way to compute on the road. About the only negative
is the keyboard size - but at home we use it with a USB keyboard to
work around that.

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS to
another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of WinXP
(in whatever language you want) to perform a clean installation.

Cannot Upgrade or Install a Different Language Version of Windows XP
