Change language in XP ???

daxia

hey all

I would like to know how to change the language in windows xp from
English to simplified Chinese. I have heard that there is something
called "language packs" that you can download from microsoft and
install to change the language.

The thing is that microsoft.com isn’t exactly user friendly and I got
lost pretty quickly.

If it shouldn’t be possible to change the language, then how to get
100% compatible with chinese software. Im just not talking about being
able to see chinese characters on the net and to be able to write
them, but to actually 100% be able to use chinese software without any
complications.

Also, will it be possible to change language in vista ? If I buy a
english version, will I be able to truly make it a chinese version ?

thank you all in advance !

Hi daxia,

The only way to do as you describe is to purchase a complete Chinese
version. Unfortunately, there is no simple add-on to make the change.

The Multilingual User Interface (MUI) can be used to change languages in
Windows XP Pro but the MUI has limited availability:

The language packs are easier to get in Vista.
But, you must have Vista Ultimate since the packs are part of the Ultimate
Extras.
They are delivered through Windows Update.
