Hi there,

Need despearate help.
I've just bought a new PC in Tokyo which comes with a Japanese version of
Windows Vista Home Premium.
I dont read Japanese so I'm trying to chagne it to English.
Spend many hours surfing thru Microsoft Technet for resources and came
across an article which suggests upgrading it to Vista Ultimate and change it
via Language Packs.
Bought and upgraded to Vista Ultimate but still unable to make the UI (User
Interface) display English instead of Japanese.
Tried to tweak around the Regional and Language settings (selecting English
for almost everything except country) but still unsuccessful.
At a complete loss now and very despearate.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks,
Ed

You'll need to purchase a "Full English Version" of Windows Vista
and then proceed with a clean install.

I thought if you had Vista Ultimate you could switch UI language with
Regional & Language Options -> Keyboards & Langiages tab -> Display Language
....?

Hi Carey,

I saw some other threads that talked about using LIP or MUI to change the UI
language in Windows Ultimate, hence I went ahead to buy the Home Premium >
Ultimate upgrade pack.
Can this not be done?

Thanks,
Ed

You would have to visit the Microsoft Update web site and download
the optional MUI language pack for Vista Ultimate.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delayed response.
I've finally had a chance to do Microsoft Update and downloaded the language
packs via Vista Ultimate.
Changed the setting in Regional Language to English and it works beautifully!
Many thanks for all your help.

p.s. It took a while to figure out the options while in Japanese mode but
finally made it!
