Hi If I delete an icon from the right side(because the name doesn't
show in the left) in Windows/Syst32 will it come back if I need to use
System Restore? Running WinXP-Home.
Thanks. deango

What is Syst32?

Could you be a bit more specific. You may wind up having to
reinstall if you just start deleting files in the system32 folder.

Hi Brian. There are two files named LEXPPS.EXE and LEXBCES.EXE
associated with an old Lexmark Z22 printer that have been causing some
problems. Lexmark tech gave me instructions for removing the LECBCES
using the Command Prompt. It worked but then my printer spooler stopped
and started every time I opened a window in anything. I did a system
restore and am back in the same spot.
In the Google Groups I was told to boot in safe mode and delete or
rename these files .old
I wanted to make sure I could get back to where I started in case this
doesn't work.

Renaming and Deleting are two worlds apart, especially if a delete
bypasses the bin. You can do as google suggested, and if all goes well for
a week or two with no more issues, delete the files. If it were to cause
other issues after renaming you could name them back.

It would be a good idea to create a new Restore point before making the
changes. IMHO I never use SR because I don't find it adequate enough for
me, I opt instead to use Ghost where I know my system/s will be restored to
the same state before any big bang.

Thanks Brian. That answers my question and I appreciate your taking
the time and for your really good suggestions. I do backup to an
external hard drive with Acronis 8, and I will do one before I do the
Syst.32 in case the system restore doesn't do what I want.
