Change height of an in-cell drop-down list

I am using Excel2k3 and I don't want to scroll down a list to select certain items. I would like to extend the list down, so that it would include more items. I can change these settings in VB, but Excel just does not like me.
 
If this is a data validation dropdown list, the number of visible rows
can't be changed.
