"Change Font Style" Emphasis Custom Animation in PPT 2003

I'm making a multiple-choice quiz via powerpoint, and wanted to bold and
underline the answers as the last animation on each slide. If I add a
"Change Font Style" effect as underline, everything works fine. However,
when I add in a Bold style, the bullet I animate will move, often on top of
other text, making it unreadable. Is this just a bug? Anyone else have the
same issue or a work-around?

From your description, I'm guessing that the 'bullet' itself is also being
made 'bold' hence the shift.

Is that what you are seeing?

Yes, the bullett is also being changed, although only the text is underlined
when the underline style is applied. Why does bold work differently? is
there a way I can change this?

I do have some screen shots - how do I post them?

One workaround would be to go to format > bullets and numbering and choose a
picture bullet (one of the very simple shapes). I dont think BOLD will change
them

On a slide (not talking animation here), bold formatting is applied to the
bullet when bold formatting is applied to the first text character following
the bullet. (I know, I hate it, too.) One workaround that is used to
overcome this is to add a space between the bullet and the first text
character. I don't know if the emphasis animation will "respect" this
workaround or not, but it's worth a try.

I used to use this workaround too. However, there is a problem with it: If
your text wraps to a second line, the bullet will disappear when the slide
is played. Not a problem if your text stays all on one line, but if it
expands when you do the bold emphasis, it looks weird (yeah that's the
word - weird).

Hey all...

John, I have a) b) c) d) set as my bullets instead of actual bullets, since
it is a multiple-choice test, so that option won't apply.

I attempted to try the other solutions, however when I animate it, the
bullet is still bolded even though there is a space before the first word.

I may be SOL on this one...

Actually you could easily make a), b) etc picture bullets!
then use the import button in the picture bullets dialogue
