I have two user account on my work computer: one is administrator local
account and one power user domain account. I tried to change the computer
name without success. Can someone advise me how to change the computer name
under such conditions.

Thanks,

Scott

You need to log in as administrator to change the computer name.

Should I log in as administrator of the computer or the domain server to
change the computer name. I have tried both without success.

You have to have been explicitly granted the necessary privileges, both
locally and on the domain. Usually, this means being an administrator
on the machine and at least an account operator or OU admin on the
domain. Contact your IT department for assistance.

If you're in a domain situation, then you might have to change it on the
directory server.
