Change background color of a listbox selected item

Hi
I have two listboxes, Available roles listbox and Assigned roles
Listbox
Once i add a item from available roles listbox to Assigned Roles
listbox, background of that item added in the availableRoles Listbox
should turn gray and it should be disabled.
This is more or less like a link whose color changes once the link is
visited once
Is it possible to do so, If so pls help me out
