Change available color choices for highlighting in Word?

The highlighting colors in Word are so saturated that when the document is
printed, it is often hard to read highlighted text. Is there a way to select
or add different colors? Something similar to the "more colors" option that
is available for shading or filling? I'm using Word 2003.

Using shading is the only alternative (you can define a specific color as a
character style). This has been a common complaint for several versions, not
remedied (AFAIK) even in Word 2007.
