Change an item name in Device Manager---how to do?

After having uninstalled/reinstalled my NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller a
couple of times via XP's Device Manager, and having updated its drivers by
going to the NVidia update site, I now find that Device Manager lists it as "
NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller #3 ".

How can I get rid of the " #3 " part of the description? I didn't see any
options for renaming the item in Device Manager.

I'm running XP Pro SP2 fully updated.

Thanks for any and all help with this minor annoyance ( which I should
mention DOES NOT seem to affect my system in any noticeable way ).
 
Why are you trying to get rid of it? You would have to physically remove the
device.
If you dont use it simply disable it.
