Challenge for DOS-compatibility experts!

I'm trying to run Quattro Pro 4 for DOS (ancient, I know, but tons of macros
that still work great and would take forever to build in something else).

When I go into the WYSIWYG (graphic) mode, text in several parts of the
screen (like the menu bar at the top) is garbled (0 gets changed to *, 1 to
+, 8 to 1, 9
to 2, etc.).

I've tried all the options in the compatibility tab under properties to no
avail.

The program works fine with on other computers with 98se and ME, even one
with the same graphics card I have in the xp pc (Matrox 550).

I've tried the newer versions of Quattro Pro, but none of the old macros work.

Advice, please? Thanks!

Thanks, Mark, that's a good long-term plan.

Anybody got any ideas for the short term?

Hi, I also use quattro 4 for DOS, but i seldom use the WYSIWYG mode. However,
since this mode consumes much more memory, this may have something to do with
your problem. Qpro can use as much as 8 MB of Ext memory, and working with
large dbs can be difficult. I use qpro on win2k without any problems, but
somehow I cannot make qpro recognize extended memory under win xp, even with
compatibility options set to win 2k. I don't know if this applies to your
case, but I hope it helps. I guess either you should use other video modes,
smaller dbs (yeah, right), or if you can make qpro recognize the extended
memory under xp, please let me know.
