DOS App Runs but displays on only half screen

Hello. I have a small client that just got a new Dell with XP Pro loaded. I transferred files from an older "server" (an app "server" on a simple closed P2P net), including their main business DB app which is a DOS app

When I tested it, the app runs but the display is compressed, displayed only in the top half of the screen. I have it set for full screen mode (not "windowed") and have tried several of the compatibility modes, to no avail

Is there some new trick in XP to get DOS apps to display truly full screen? Is there a setting I'm missing

Any help would be appreciated

Hi HiBeamer,
Try this:
DOS application on Windows XP full screen

Create a short cut from the desk top
Right click on the desk top
Go to NEW
Go to SHORTCUT
In the TYPE THE LOCATION OF THE ITEM field type:
Command.com c:\windows\system32 /c BATCHFILE.BAT
(BATCHFILE.BAT is the batch file used to open your DOS-based program)
Click on NEXT
In the TYPE A NAME FOR THIS SHORTCUT field type:
The name of your DOS-based software
Click on Finish

Finish the set up of the Icon
Right click on your new Icon
On the PROGRAM tab
Cmd line: command.com c:\windows\system32 /c BATCHRFILE.BAT
Working: path to your software
Batch file: blank
Shortcut key: none
Run: normal window
Check close on exit
On the SCREEN tab
Usage – window
(yes this seems odd, but full screen does not work, you have to ALT+ENTER once you have the dos window open – trust me)
Window – uncheck restore settings at start up
Performance – leave them both checked.
On the COMPATIBILITY tab
Check Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution
Click on Apply and ok

Double click on you icon and when it opens then press ALT+ENTER and your program should run in full screen mode.

Hope it works
Meg
